Writing for Newspapers & Magazines
Writing for the media has thought me a few things. It thought me to live with a tight deadline. Working for a newspaper can be brutal. You can NEVER miss a deadline. You sometimes have only a couple of hours to draft a perfect article. Soon, writing under pressure for a newspaper becomes routine, which is a great skill that lends itself very well to other writing activities. My clients can rely on me to deliver quickly. Working for a newspaper also thought me how to do research. If you don’t fact check everything you put into your articles, you can bet someone will find unsubstantiated claims in your texts. I’ve learned to apply those two hard lessons to any text I work on. So, when you give a me text to write, I’ll deploy all resources to deliver it on time, and I’ll make sure the information I provide is accurate.
